But this next brand doesn’t really fit that description. It’s a distinctly European brand, named Lampert Cigars, and while they do have some availability here in the U.S., mostly up north, you can’t really find them, except for online. They’re definitely not in Florida.

Nevertheless, that’s our Friday Brand Feature for this week, so grab a cold beverage, light up a stogie and let’s smoke this thing out. Shall we?

What can you tell us about Lampert Cigars?

Kenney is a pretty big name in the annals of history. Okay, maybe we haven’t done anything remarkable, but we do have a family crest and coat of arms with European roots. That’s what I’m getting at. Really, I’m trying to relate my name to the Lampart name, because the first mentions of it stretch all the way back to the year 1418. You could say the Lamperts have some history and some spark.

According to them, the Lampert family had three distinct lines. “The first line of the LAMPERT family stayed in Liechtenstein, the second line of the family moved to Austria and the third line of the family emigrated to the United States of America.”

But the cigar brand Lampert Cigars was established by Dr. Stefan Lampert in 2017, an attorney by trade. Apparently, the idea to create a self-named cigar brand came to Stefan while he was visiting Thailand. That idea merged with another to deliver custom-made bespoke products — like custom and tailored suits — only in the world of cigars. Thus, Lampert Cigars was officially born, with its first run named My Cigar Lab, which was later renamed to the Oro Line.

Lampert cigars were well-received by connoisseurs and aficionados “everywhere,” which pushed Stefan to take the concept even further. Stefan eventually expanded his influence to other regions, teaming up with cigar makers in Central America, including Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

What about the Lampert cigar labels?

On Lampert’s site, you can clearly see that the cigars are separated into three lines: Lampert 1675, with lines made in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, and Lampert 1593 with a single line made in the Dominican Republic. The latter features a single Oscura, Costa Rica has the Ocean Breeze, Oro Line, and Oro Line Small Batch, while Nicaragua produces the Azul, Rojo and Morado. Even without looking at the wrappers the names are fairly close to general descriptions of the blend used.

Morado, for instance, is a medium to full-bodied maduro with a Mexican Negro San Andres wrapper. Lampert describes it as brimming with roasted espresso, dark cocoa, wood, spices and sweetness throughout. Honestly, my mouth is watering just imagining that one.

Ocean Breeze adheres to the Costa Rican philosophy of Pura Vida, sharing joy and happiness with the community. It has an Ecuadorian H. Criollo wrapper with an undisclosed binder and fillers. But the brand says you’ll get flavors of cocoa, nuts like almonds, earth, and leather. Sounds like another banger.

In addition to cigars, the company also sells merchandise and accessories.

Where can you get Lampert cigars?

While most of the top locations to find Lampert brand labels are in Europe, there are some here in the States and in Canada. New York and Massachusetts are top spots here in the US, while Nova Scotia and Ontario have some spots in Canada.

You can always check out the where to buy page on the brand’s official site. I have not had the pleasure or opportunity to try Lampert cigars yet. But from what I’ve heard from others, and read in online discourse, I will jump at the chance when it comes.

What can you tell us about Upallant?

You might have heard of this brand before, or come across reviews from the cigar community. Upallant seems to have made a big push to get these lighters into the hands of people that would love using them, and that has been largely successful.

As far as the brand, it’s a non-descript seller on Amazon and other marketplaces, offering premium-quality lighters at more accessible prices. Companies like ST. Dupont slap unique finishes, designs and sometimes rare gems on lighters and charge upwards of $10,000. Upallant went a different direction. They offer unique finishes and designs, but also multi-functional features. For example, a lot of Upallant lighters include a built-in cigar holder. Usually, they also incorporate a tool or two.

If you’re not opposed to a wood grain finish, gold accents, mesh, honeycomb designs or carbon fiber styles, you’ll feel right at home with Upallant’s gear. I own the five-in-one torch lighter, have been using it for quite a while, and love to carry it with me out of the house.

I have also interacted with the Upallant team on social media several times. Not that it makes a difference, but they seem like great people.

What about the Upallant cigar accessories?

A majority of Upallant’s offerings are firey. In other words, they’re torch lighters with single, dual or multi flame options. You’ll also find additional accessories like a travel humidor, bundles with stands and draw enhancers, and a few outliers. This particular torch lighter from the brand is electric and can be charged via USB-C — it uses butane, too.

You get the point, unique and varied. But also, incredibly useful. Take this gold and black stylish four-in-one torch lighter. It produces a single, reliable jet flame. But it also has a built-in cigar punch, a cigar holder, and an integrated draw enhancer — cigar needle.

The lighter I own has five functions and I love bringing it with me to events, lounges, and when I visit friends or family. Not only does it incorporate tools, so I don’t have to bring other cutters and such, but it’s a fantastic stand-in for when I do forget essentials. The stylish finish always seems to be a good conversation starter, and that’s before anyone spots me using the built-in tools. More importantly, I’ve had to use that built in draw enhancer more than I care to admit down here in Florida, so it’s become a staple of my collection. I still haven’t gotten around to grabbing a Cigar Dagger. I know, I know, shame on me.

But still, the Upallant lighter has been super useful and they’re always priced phenomenally. I got mine for under $30, and yes, I paid for mine, I wasn’t sent mine for free. That didn’t stop the friendly team from trying.

Where can I find Upallant gear online?

At the risk of rewarding our corporate overlords, Amazon is the best place to go to find Upallant gear. I only own the five-in-one currently, and I don’t like to go around recommending gear I haven’t tried. However, judging by my experience, and many of the reviews I’ve come across online, you’re in good hands with Upallant.

The support team is responsive, and as I’ve said, in my dealings, they’ve always been friendly. There’s not much more you could ask for on that front.

Then again, maybe people don’t know how to find the smaller “boutique” brands out there in a sea of big names and hot, smoky promises. Allow me to introduce you to the previously mentioned Aria Exclusives. A Dominican-born cigar maker with handcrafted varieties from “la ciudad corazon.” The heart of the local trade.

This is one of those brands I simply cannot understand why it doesn’t have more fans, and more buzz. Okay, that’s a lie. Aria Exclusives can be tough to get your hands on depending on where you are. But still, they’re incredible cigars.

If you haven’t already, pour yourself a cool glass, light up a delicious stogie and let’s get this smokeshow on the road.

What can you tell us about Aria Exclusives?

A lot of cigar makers sprout like a bud from humble beginnings. But it’s difficult to see the big, successful companies of today as smaller, more craft-like operations. AJ Fernandez or E.P. Carrillo (Casa Carillo) for example, have really made a name for themselves, growing their operations to levels beyond what one might consider modest. That’s not the case with Aria Exclusives. It has humble beginnings, and while the brand has definitely made a name for itself among the community, it’s still very much in its inception stages.

Co-owners, Yoey and Gerard started the brand with the help of some friends after truly delving into the foundational elements of the trade. The journey actually began “with a project focused on creating hookah tobacco,” which is certainly intriguing. But the team says after “spending considerable time with cigar factories,” they changed gears and “discovered a passion for the cigar industry and the intricate art of cigar making.”

“Without hesitation, we embraced this newfound love and dedicated ourselves to our craft.”

I don’t know how you feel, dear reader, but I love the backstory. I too, fell in love with the craft and have found a new outlook after visiting cigar factories and seeing all the work that people put in behind the scenes. It’s a miracle these cigars make it to store shelves and into our hands.

Before writing, I caught up with the Aria team and asked some brief introductory questions. They responded in kind. That’s where all these quotes are coming from.

“At Aria Exclusives, we are a boutique cigar brand dedicated to crafting exceptional premium cigars at accessible prices. Our cigars are meticulously produced in our factory located in Tamboril, Santiago, Dominican Republic, using only the finest quality tobacco selected specifically for our unique blends.”

The finest quality ingredients, indeed. I know a lot of cigars are relaxing and offer what one might consider thought-provoking experiences, but Aria Exclusive cigars are standouts. I haven’t had every single blend, mind you, but the ones I have had are phenomenal.

They’re flavor bombs and if you take even just a precursory peek on social media, you’ll find many that agree.

What about the Aria Exclusive labels?

Many Aria Exclusive labels derive their names from their wrapper and tobacco blends. Like the Connecticut, Habano, or San Andres. Of course, they have more unique offerings, too, such as the Eternal Knot Rose — a balanced blend of Dominican, Pennsylvanian, Columbian and Ecuadorian tobaccos. The Rose will gingerly load your senses with flavors like earthy, cocoa, wood, citrus, and sweetness with a subtle spice undertone. The Eternal Knot Gold, on the other hand, will deliver leather, spices, earth, nuttiness, and a silky smoothness that pads the tongue like a soft pillow.

My favorites — out of what I’ve had — are the Aria Exclusives Corojo and the Habano.

“As a young company, we are backed by extensive experience and guided by a master blender who has collaborated with some of the most renowned cigar brands in the Dominican Republic. At Aria Exclusives, we consider ourselves a family, extending that same warmth and care to our customers.”

Master Blenders, as you hopefully know by now, help create the unique blends that make up the diverse, complex world of modern tobaccos and cigars. Almost every brand has one behind the scenes, and it’s exciting to see that Aria Exclusives has a renowned artist steering the sensory ship, mystery or not.

As for what’s in store, Aria is expanding with new lines, which will be available in due time:

“Currently, we offer our foundational line of cigars alongside a selection of limited releases, with plans underway for the second edition of our basic line, which will be launched once it’s ready.”

Where can you get Aria Exclusives cigars?

Boutique brands or small brands can be tough to get your hands on, especially outside local shops and areas. Luckily, Aria Exclusives has some options available. You can shop directly through the brand’s storefront — they offer merchandise, too.

There’s a Cigar Smoker Club page, as well. But they don’t have all the current blends available, so keep that in mind. I’ve never used them personally. The Aria Exclusives cigars I was able to try, I was sent by a friend.

I will say, if you have the opportunity to try some, take it. You will not be disappointed.

Karen Berger is obviously an example of a woman-owned brand, but as any cigar enthusiast knows, it’s less about what’s behind the name and the labels and more about the cigars. What kind of experience do they offer? Are they worth the purchase? Where do they come from?

Grab yourself a nice tall glass, fill it with something sweet, light up your favorite cigar and let’s explore.

What can you tell us about Karen Berger cigars?

Founded by a professional with over 25 years in the cigar industry, Karen Berger Cigars emphasize integrity, unwavering dedication and a deep knowledge of tobacco cultivation.

But most of that is marketing fluff. What’s the real story?

Industry veteran Enrique “Kiki” Berger, also known as Don Kiki, was a passionate cigar maker whose blends became a mainstay in the cigar world, and for good reason. When he passed away, his wife Karen took up the mantle to continue his legacy. Through hands, vision, and heart, she not only worked to preserve the name of her companion and forebears, but also elevate it. Starting as a cigar roller to now, a major and formative cigar businesswoman, it’s quite the journey, and the brand has made its mark.

With a commitment to craftsmanship, and deep respect for an age-old craft, Karen has carved out her own path, and her achievements serve as a love letter to her late husband and familial roots.

What about the stogies?

Nothing from the Karen Berger lineup is in your face strong. But she didn’t design them to be that way either. The brand has adopted a mantra of “excellence, empowerment and constant evolution.” And when you light up one of the brand’s cigars, that definitely shines through.

Starting with the K by Karen Berger, in Connecticut, Habano, Cameroon, and Maduro varieties, to the Don Kiki Platinum, Gold and Brown labels, these cigars certainly make a statement. The Karen Berger 25th Anniversary is also a standout, as it’s crafted by none other than the legendary AJ Fernandez. The new Ixtelli features all Nicaraguan tobacco grown at Karen Berger’s farm in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Just to illustrate the care and ingenuity in Karen Berger’s offerings, take the K-Fire as an example. It’s named after the high temperatures that piles of tobacco reach during fermentation. The pilónes are stacked and left to ferment, while the internal moisture and weight generate heat — reaching as high as 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

As for what’s inside, the K-Fire features a Mexican San Andres wrapper, around a Habano Jalapa binder and Nicaraguan fillers. It’s a medium to full-bodied smoke with lots of spice, earth, coffee, and sweet notes. The complexity will hit your palate as you puff through without overpowering your senses. It’s captivating, pleasant, and relaxing, as any good cigar should be.

Karen Berger cigars are not as accessible as one might think, yet. Depending on where you live, and where you shop, you can find them online through Neptune Cigars and a few other places. But it’s not as likely your local cigar shop or lounge will carry them. If they do, I recommend grabbing some.

If you want to hunt down an exact spot near you, be sure to check out the Where to Find Us section of the brand’s website. There are lots of shops in the south, Florida primarily, a few up north in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire, and a few scattered out west.

Now, right up front you’ll notice some of their lighter designs are in line with other brands. For example, the model JetLine dubs the R-100, I have from Vertigo — a subsidiary of Lotus. The same factories make some of these accessories, and different brands add their names. There’s nothing particularly wrong with that if the lighter is reliable. We’ll get to why I’m calling out JetLine, specifically, in a bit, but I do have a couple of their lighters.

What or who is JetLine?

Information about the brand is pretty sparse. According to the site, JetLine has been around since 1991, and if their claims are true, they were the “world’s first” creator of the quadruple flame lighter. Quadruple is four. That’s ridiculous in my opinion, but to each their own. Apparently, JetLine also created the “world’s first” sextuple flame lighter. I’m sure four to six flames look badass, but talk about torching the shit out of your cigar, am I right?

But the prevailing theme across all the brands products is that they are stylish and accessible. “Affordable, durable, and reliable,” as described on the JetLine front page.

Their inventory isn’t exclusively lighters, however. JetLine also offers cutters, Zippo-style lighters, and a few unique designs — the Regal has a built-in cigar stand on top. It also has a serrated poker — cigar needle — and punch cutter. Sometimes, multi-functional accessories are the way to go. You can toss just one device in your go-bag or carrying pouch and that’s all you need to take to your lounge, shop, or wherever you’re going.

Why are we talking about JetLine lighters?

While some would rather spring for an S.T. Dupont or similarly expensive and flashy piece, I would much rather build out a collection of reliable, anytime-use accessories. No, I’m not saying ST. Dupont is unreliable, but they are expensive.

I usually keep my lighters in a box outside on my patio, where I spend my time smoking. I do have some nicer gear that stays inside the house. But when you’re traveling, visiting a family member or friend’s house, or hitting up local hotspots, you probably don’t want to bring along your most expensive gear. I mean, it depends on the crowd, I suppose.

Back to JetLine. The brand’s accessories are affordable but still look great. They’re unique enough that they become a talking piece when you’re out. And if you get one of the multi-functional models, you’re all set for a while, you don’t have to worry if you forget cutters and other gear.

Plus, they’re not so expensive that you’d be upset if you leave one behind, or if someone snags it. You’d be surprised how often that happens in a lounge or bar.

I can attest that JetLine lighters are quality, despite having a wallet-friendly price tag. Just bear in mind, lighters like this aren’t designed to last you forever. If you use them every day, multiple times a day, well, you can do the math.

In the end, there are lighters everywhere, many you’ll find on Amazon for great prices. So, if you don’t like what you see when you check out JetLine, there are plenty of alternatives. I just wanted to call out a brand I’ve been using for a while that offers reliable products. I haven’t used any of their cutters, so I can’t speak on those, but I’m sure they’re like any other you’d find elsewhere.

As for prices, the Regal I talked about above is only $19 on Thompson Cigar, $25 on JetLine, $30 on Amazon, and comes in a few different colors. Overall, prices for JetLine lighters range from about $18 to $80, and there’s a gift set for $190 that includes the Galleon, which is slick-looking.

Now, why am I covering Casa 1910 and why should you care? While Nicaragua is the top exporter of cigars and tobacco these days, and Cuba still gets a lot of buzz — even the Dominican Republic gets some great shout-outs — Mexico is not talked about as often. That’s a shame because tobacco grown in the region is just as unique, and just as delicious as anything else. Take the Mexican San Andrés leaves as the perfect example. They’re showing up pretty much everywhere these days.

And Mexican San Andrés tobacco has been grown almost exclusively by one family, the A. Turrent family, who is also responsible for Te-Amo cigars, which you might recognize.

Mexican tobacco is often combined with other types to make cigars, used for the wrappers and binders, but that’s it. Casa 1910 is taking things a step further and producing cigars with all-Mexican leaf.

What can you tell us about Casa 1910?

Casa 1910 is from master blender and co-founder Manolo Santiago, a man who has a storied history in the world of cigars. He was formerly Habanos S.A.’s marketing manager working exclusively in Mexico. You can read an excellent interview Manolo participated did with Cigar Public, if you want to know more.

Capturing the proud spirit of Mexican born tobacco, and the Mexican Revolution, the brand’s cigars hail from the San Andrés valley in Veracruz, Mexico. They pride themselves on Mexican traditions and celebrations using regional names and locations as inspiration. Most cigars in the brand’s lineup adhere to “Mexigar” standards — nearly all Mexican-sourced tobacco. Every release continues to leave an indelible mark.

The new release, the Casa 1910 El Ebano, for example, features all Mexican tobacco for the fillers, binder and wrapper, something we haven’t seen often, if at all. It’s also named after a city in Mexico, called Ébano — if you didn’t already guess — known for a battle that shares its namesake.

From the Revolutionary Edition to the Cavalry Edition and Soldadera Edition, with individual blends in each of those labels, plus some limited releases, there’s a lot to love here. Revolutionary includes the Tierra Blanca, and the Cuchillo Parado, for instance. Words do not do this brand justice. Go take a look when you can.

While the cigars are definitely unique, and mouth-wateringly delicious, I might add, it’s the packaging, labels and brand colors that really shake things up. Hues of bright orange, green and gold almost illuminate the brown shades of the aged tobacco. Not to mention, they’ve earned many 89 to 90+ scores across media outlets, which is worth recognizing even if I’m not into scores myself.

Despite that, it’s alarming how many people don’t know about this brand. Or, if they have heard of it, how delayed they are in giving the Casa 1910 lineup an honest try.

We normally include a section here about where the cigars are made. I think that’s fairly obvious with Casa 1910’s tobacco. Instead, we’ll talk about how and where you can get your hands on some of these inspiring and well-balanced cigars.

Casa 1910 actually has a seller location finder on its site. That’s an excellent way to scope out your local area and see if there are shops nearby carrying the brand.

If you want to buy online, check out Famous Smoke Shop, Neptune Cigar, Small Batch Cigar, and Corona Cigar Company. I’m sure there are a few others out there, as well, before you yell that I missed some.

Cigar Daggers are uniquely designed and beautifully-handcrafted cigar nubbers, made out of a variety of materials, like .925 sterling silver, gemstones, crystal, wood, bone, brass, and beyond. They’re made to last, but also, they’re made to standout. Skulls, dragons, kings, lions, you name it, there’s a unique cigar nubber in their coffers for you.

But these guys also specialize in a lot more. For example, they have their own premium cigars, as well. Notables to mention are the Royal Blood — which comes in a gift box with a dagger — and The Insider. I have not had the chance to try the cigars yet, but they sound interesting. The Insider is medium to full-bodied with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Indonesian binder, and undisclosed (mysterious) fillers.

That’s enough with the introductions, however. Light yourself a stogie, grab a cold drink and let’s dive in for real.

What can you tell us about Cigar Daggers?

Based out of Los Angeles, California, as noted above, Cigar Daggers was launched in 2019. At the helm were self-proclaimed “artists, designers and cigar enthusiasts,” who noticed that premium cigar nubbers were not commonplace.

A nubber, just in case you need a primer, is similar to a cigar needle. Only they’re not inherently used to open up the draw of a cigar. They’re used as a makeshift holder when the cigar burns down to a less manageable form factor. You jab the sharp, pointy end into the cigar so you can hold it up to your mouth and continue smoking. They’re a must-have if you want to get the absolute most out of your smoking experience.

If you’ve ever had a cigar that you just couldn’t put down, and don’t want to, you’ll know exactly what I mean. You puff on that beast right down to a nub, until it’s pretty damn close to searing your fingers, lips and tongue. These Cigar Daggers allow you to do that without burning anything. I’d say that’s a huge boon.

Reinventing the cigar tools game

According to the brand, they excelled at making these nifty devices and “did such a great job at reinventing the cigar nubber that it has since become synonymous with the object it represents.”

“Cigar Dagger was also the very first company to make cigar nubbers with heads, from cigar smoking skulls, to dragons, kings, lions and everything in between.” While I haven’t verified those claims, one look at the Cigar Dagger collection tells you all you need to know. They are indeed unique, well-crafted and stunning.

While I’m partial to the Bearded Villian, there’s no denying the intricate design of the La Catrina – Dia De Los Muertos, HELLBORN with a cigar, Nautilus, or Shipwrecked. Okay, I could keep listing them out. These are fantastic.

What else does the Cigar Dagger team offer?

When it’s a cigar maker, we normally focus on where the cigars are made. Yes, these guys do have premium cigars they offer, but we’re highlighting the daggers first and foremost. So, instead, we’ll consider some of the other gear they offer. Spoiler Alert: It’s a lot.

Custom cigar nubbers, premium cigars, what else does the team sell? Well, accessories, for starters, including cutters, stands, scissors, torch lighters, cases, and more. Check out the Luxury Cigar Scissors in a vintage design, embossed in black. Or, the Industrial Grid Cigar Ashtray. They also have pipe tampers if you smoke pipe tobacco, cigar rests for use on the golf course, and regular lighters like this vintage skull one.

Of course, there’s merch, too, if you want to rep the brand with a tee. King of the Leaf is the brand’s sister site, I’m assuming from the same team — that’s also where you’ll find the Cigar Dagger cigars.

There’s no mention on either site who exactly the brilliant minds are behind these brands. I did track down a few names, but since they didn’t disclose I won’t be a snitch. Maybe I’ll get the chance to talk to some of them. For now, let’s settle with the information we have and these absolutely fucking badass nubbers. Seriously, I can’t get enough of these designs.

Cigar Dagger prices range from about $15 to $80 for the most elegant designs. Most of the good ones fall between the $50 and $70 range. Accessories, if you’re into those, range from about $7 for the cheapest lighter up to $175 for all-leather cases. Some of the brand’s more hot-ticket items are sold out, as well. That obsidian stone ashtray is something else.

As the brand states, they offer a variety of elegant smokes “built on passion, love, [and] with no compromise in quality or flavor.” The overall mission is to create lasting experiences through cigars that you can smoke and enjoy “anytime of the day.” I can get down with that. Every day is a great day to light up a cigar and so is anytime during the day, from morning to night.

As you might expect from the name, the brand’s lineup of cigars all relate to chickens, hens, and the like. See the Homicidal Hen or the Mother Clucker for some excellent examples. You might also recognize the name from my previous coverage of underrated cigar brands to watch.

What can you tell us about Drunk Chicken Cigars?

Drunk Chicken has extremely humble beginnings, as do most excellent small and boutique brands. The origins hearken back to good times with family and friends in the birthplace of the business. As they tell it, “hanging out in the family backyard; living the dream, eating, drinking, and sharing cigars.” What a wonderful environment to build a product within a field that’s big on camaraderie.

The owner, Desiree Sylver, and her crew, eventually chose the name “Drunk Chicken” for their venture, as the chickens roaming the area appeared to be stumbling around drunk while returning to their roost. Using that same name, they hosted local events which were safe spaces to hang out for many. Rather than charge for entry or attendance, the “notional fee” was to bring a cigar for yourself and one to share with others. That evolved into a quest for seeking out unique cigars that everyone could try.

As most journeys like this do, it grew into blending and hand-rolling tobacco to create unique blends to share with family and friends — the first “Chicks” from the company. From there, the business was officially established in 2019 and the rest is history.

Today, Drunk Chicken offers a host of blends, including the DCO, Mother Clucker, Fat Hen, Living the Dream, Sweet Dream, Homicidal Hen and The Henchmen. These premium cigars also have a range of flavor profiles, from dark and toasty with coffee, earth, and dark chocolate, to vibrant, creamy and sweet.

Where are Drunk Chicken cigars made?

Using a variety of tobaccos from Nicaragua, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic, among others, all Drunk Chicken Cigars are handmade in the U.S.A. at an undisclosed factory. Whether we know the factory or not, it’s always great to see cigars made here at home.

The brand’s most recent release was The Henchmen, which made an appearance at PCA 2025. It features a gorgeous Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and fillers — Double Ligero fillers. It’s smooth, full-bodied, and bursting with flavor, especially thanks to the Ligero. You’ll taste baking spices, pepper, leather, as well as dark and toasty notes like espresso, roasted nuts and earth. The most alluring part is the explosive pepper kick that makes an appearance in the second or third portion. It doesn’t show its poker hand right away.

Of course, the true test of any cigar is the experience. Are they good? Do they taste good? How do you get your hands on some?

Anyway, this week I wanted to focus on a small brand that I actually have a little history with. I won’t say the outlet, but I did write about Lovely Cigars before, which gave me the opportunity to try the lineup of cigars they offer, like No. 162 or their newest variety, Bay City Cigars in Maduro and Connecticut.

I wanted to highlight the brand again, in a new way, and share that with everyone. So, kick back, grab a drink, light one up with me and let’s dive in.

Based out of the Green Bay area — in Wisconsin — Lovely Cigars actually gets its namesake from a legacy cigar business that operated out of the same area in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The region was actually a hotspot for the cigar trade back in the day, thanks to the Great Lakes and Fox River, which made for excellent trade channels. And one of the oldest cigar brands in the state was called Ain’t They Lovely.

The brand did business as far away as Chicago. But the real takeaway is the beautiful artwork that adorned the brand’s cigar boxes. As Lovely Cigars tells it, “part of the original artwork on the boxes incorporates blue ribbon medals from the World’s Columbian Exposition, better known as the “World’s Fair” in 1893.”

And after rediscovering that artwork, Mike Gehm, Keith Archiquette, and Dylan Masse revitalized the brand. The artwork and the Ain’t They Lovely name serves as inspiration for the new company, Lovely Cigars, with one of its flagship releases even using the original name.

The brand’s mission and focus? Time is precious, and your time is valuable. They want you to enjoy every minute you have with their cigars, through a quality experience that’s memorable, with plenty of relaxation and joy.

“We aren’t only making cigars – we’re creating experiences, bringing relaxation and joy, while creating a new cultural experience through tobacco.”

It was Mike Gehm who originally told me that “tobacco is a great equalizer,” which is absolutely true. People from all walks of life can gather and enjoy in the moment. “We can sit together, [and] experience the camaraderie, joy and escape from the constant onslaught of the day.”

In an earlier conversation, one of the brand’s owners, Mike Gehm, explained that they did travel down to Nicaragua, which is where the tobacco and the cigars come from. It’s fairly apparent when you have the chance to smoke them, too. The flavors are complex. The experience is phenomenal, and, personally, I always keep some of their cigars in my humidor at home.

You can buy the cigars online to give them a try, which I would highly recommend. They currently have four releases, two of which are the Bay City Cigars — in Connecticut and Maduro shade. The other two releases are the Ain’t They Lovely Elegante X2, in a 6 inches by 52 size, and the No. 162. They are all delicious. For instance, Ain’t They Lovely is thick with cream, cinnamon, baking spices, and hints of citrus.
